Daddy Daughter Dance

Break out the black ties and patent leather shoes for an evening of magic your daughters will remember for a lifetime! The Arlington Convention Center Ballroom will be transformed into a winter wonderland staged for dancing and enchanting. Cost for individual tickets include a corsage, light refreshments, parting gift for daughters and a memorable photograph.

Kite Festival

Come fly with us! We will have kite building workshops, stunt demonstrations and contests for kites of every shape and size. This is an event for everyone! Registration for contests will be onsite the day of event. Contests are separated into categories based on age, so bring the whole family for this event at River Legacy Parks. Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

Are you looking for a NEW twist on the same old Easter egg hunt? We have exactly what you are looking for! Attend our annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt to experience this fun craze in egg hunting. Each egg hunter needs to bring their own flashlight and egg basket or sack.

Children will be divided into age groups: 3 & under (the Easter Bunny says that parents can hop along), 4-5 years, 6-7 years and 10-12 years (the Bunny thought it through and has decided to make this hunt more challenging).

And don’t worry, don’t fret, if your basket ends up low, just hop on over to the Hidden Bunny Trail to continue the search. The egg hunt will start with the youngest age group, but while you wait there will be games galore. $5 per person includes egg hunt egg hunt, carnival games, music and more. Naturally Fun Neighborhoods
Enhancing neighborhoods and promoting active and healthy lifestyles, Arlington created the Naturally Fun Neighborhoods program in 2007. The initiative brings residents, the Parks and Recreation Department and neighborhood organizations together to enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, creative play and outdoor recreation.

National Family Literacy Day – Spring (Date to be announced)

Reading – it’s not just for kids! Parents, grandparents, children, and everyone else in Arlington are invited to enjoy an afternoon of reading and learning about reading at the Library.

Movies in the Park - May—October
We’ve got the perfect way to make watching movies with the family more fun. Watch movies in the park. Don’t miss out on a memorable evening with the family. Just bring chairs and blankets and we’ll provide the rest. There will be candy and other movie goodies to buy and the choice of movie will always be something fun and enjoyable for everyone!

The first movie will take place on Friday, May 15 at Veteran's Parks. The movie, Mighty Ducks, will begin at dark. Other movies are scheduled for July 31 at the Levitt Pavilion in Founders' Plaza, August 14 at the Levitt Pavilion in Founders' Plaza and September 25 at Veterans Park. Movie titles to be announced.

Arbor Day Celebration

Plant a tree and celebrate Arbor Day with an adventure race, kid’s games and lots of fun at Richard Simpson Park.

Free trees will be given to each family or attendee in the spirit of celebrating Arbor Day and there will be fun activities for all ages, including bounce houses, an obstacle course, environmentally friendly games and activities. Kayaking and canoeing will take place on the lake.

The Arbor Day Adventure Race will start at 8:30am and will be a fun family beginner’s adventure race. The race will encompass a one mile run, 800 meter canoe trek (canoes will be provided), and an obstacle course. The Adventure Race is open to participants ages 7 and up. Entry fee is $30 per person. Carnival by the Courts

The Arlington Tennis Center and USTA will host the 3rd Annual Carnival by the Courts on May 2, 2009. This FREE community party will focus on tennis activities for all ages and include other FUN activities such as music and refreshments.

Summer Reading Club

Children (birth to grade 6), teens (grades 7 to 12), and adults (ages 18 and up) are invited to participate by reading and listening to books for the sheer joy of it. In addition to reading for fun, there are a variety of entertaining programs and events.

8th Annual Free Kids Fishing Tournament

This event offers kids of all ages an opportunity to enjoy a day of fishing at beautiful Lake Arlington. This event will be held at Bowman Springs Park and is brought to you by Arlington Parks and Recreation, Texas Parks & Wildlife, Tarrant Christian Bass Club, and other community sponsors. It will be a day of food, fun, prizes and activities for all ages.

Light up Arlington

This festival brings music, vendors and food together in downtown Arlington with multiple stages and fireworks every July 3rd.

After Dark in the Park

When the sun goes down, River Legacy Parks comes alive! Join us for an evening of fun for the whole family every October. Activities include storytelling, karaoke, a pumpkin patch, bounce houses, balloon artists, face painting, crafts & games, a hayride shuttle, great food and much more.

Caelum Moor Sculpture
Summer/Fall
In 2009 the Caelum Moor sculptures will be reconstructed at Richard Greene Linear Park along Johnson Creek. A special stamp will be available at this monumental event.

Medieval Festival

Experience the Middle Ages as history comes to life. Fascinating exhibits of medieval arts and sciences will be on display and live demonstrations of ancient weaponry will be conducted by costumed members of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This event will be entertaining and educational for the whole family. Admission is free.

Courtyard Celebration

One Book
Fall
An annual community-wide read that is a collaborative project of the Arlington Public Library, UT Arlington, and the Arlington Independent School District. This year, Arlington Reads about football. Check out Twelve Mighty Orphans by Jim Dent and read it with us.

Family Fun Camp Out

Spend quality time with the whole family. Join us for dinner, hay rides, smores, crafts, tent or treating and a tent decorating contest. The event ends with a light breakfast in the morning.
