Influenza is a contagious disease caused by the influenza
virus. On average, 226,000 people are hospitalized every
year and 36,000 die. Some people, such as infants, elderly
and those with certain health conditions, can get much
sicker and many elder people do not survive the disease.
Hepatitis A is a serious liver disease caused by the
hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is usually spread by close
personal contact and sometimes by eating food or drinking
water containing HAV. Hepatitis A can cause a mild
“flu-like” illness. Two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine is
recommended, with the second dose given no sooner than six
months after the first dose.
