Arlington Police Partner With Community on Safety

The rush of the holiday season is filled with distractions and changes in routine. Burglars know this and take advantage of packages left in vehicles and gifts piled under Christmas trees. As a result, the Arlington Police Department wants to remind residents about the nuts and bolts of crime prevention, specifically when it comes to vehicle or residential burglary. From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, the Arlington Police Department will partner with businesses and residents in the East District for a community event focused on crime prevention education. The event will be held in the parking lot of the Nuts and Bolts Hardware Store located at 2320 S. Collins St.

  • Nuts and Bolts employees will demonstrate ways to reinforce locks and windows.
  • Arlington police volunteers will have a car on display to show the common mistakes people make with leaving items in plain sight that might entice a car burglar.
  • Getting to know your neighbors is one of the simplest ways to protect your homes. By interacting and mingling with neighbors, like at this community event, residents are better able to spot suspicious people in their neighborhoods.
  • Food, games and prizes will be available throughout the community gathering.

Join your Arlington Police Department in an effort to prevent crime! For more information, call 817 459-5817 or 817 459-5725.
