Stimulus Funds Make Home Ownership a Reality for
Arlington Family

Why: To celebrate the success of a federally funded program
that is making it possible for eligible families to purchase
foreclosed homes in Arlington. The Nguyen family is the
first in Arlington to purchase a home through the
Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The family of four had
been house hunting for about four months and living with
family when they heard about the program.
Great Video and Photo opportunities - Thursday’s ribbon
cutting ceremony will occur at the Nguyen family home and
include Mayor Robert Cluck, Arlington City Council members,
staff from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development and Arlington Housing Authority. Additionally,
the following officials have been invited to participate:
Congressman Joe Barton, Senator John Cornyn and Senator Kay
Bailey Hutchison.
About the NSP Program
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
earmarked $2 million in NSP funding for the City of
Arlington. The funds are being used to acquire and
rehabilitate foreclosed or abandoned homes in approved
target areas. According to Community Services Assistant
Director David Zappasodi, the NSP program will help to
stabilize and improve Arlington neighborhoods in areas where
foreclosure rates are highest. Thirteen more applications
