Pre-Foreclosure Sale Program: The Pre-Foreclosure Sale
(PFS) Program has helped thousands of mortgagors in default to
avoid foreclosure and transition to more affordable housing. The
PFS Program can help many families who today are facing
foreclosure. This loss mitigation option allows a mortgagor in
default to sell his or her home and use the sale proceeds in
satisfaction of the mortgage debt when the proceeds are less
than the amount owed. Contact your lender to determine if this
option can assist you. HUD Mortgage Letter 2008-43 provides
additional information about this program.
