Looking for something awesome to do? Check out the Studio, a
terrific underground teen arts spot where you and your friends can
hang out, kick back, and have all kinds of fun.
I certainly did.
It’s a place where you can get free access to cameras and computers,
get your homework done, and talk to Facebook Friends.
You can even make a YouTube video!
Need a laptop? It’s there. Play station? They’ve got them. Video
equipment? Have that, too.
I couldn’t figure out what to do first: work on digital photography
or anime? Use Photoshop or Flash? Learn Soundbooth or Dreamweaver?
I had so much fun making videos and creating loops on the computers.
So don’t get bored this summer. Get better! The Studio has afternoon
(1 to 3 p.m.) classes where you can upgrade your computer skills.
Sign up for Video Editing 101 on June 16 or July 21. Take the Master
Photoshop classes on June 23 or July 28. Just do it!
It was so easy to join. I just showed my library card and photo ID.
No card? No problem. Just bring your ID -- and a parent. (That’s the
only catch.)
As an official member, you can access the Studio equipment from
every day of the week until closing time in the basement of the
George W. Hawkes Central Library in downtown Arlington (Across from
City Hall.)
You’ll be amazed at the creative energy happening at the Underground
Studio.
