VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AND PROJECTS

30 SECONDS WITH MICHELLINE MALLEY

Michelline Malley1) What's your name? Michelline Malley

2) Nick name? Michelline

3) How long have you been a volunteer? 2 + years

4) Where are you from? Harlingen Texas

5) What music CD do you like?
Too many to list. I've been listening to Daughtry and Life House a lot lately, but that can change tomorrow. All time favorite - Rush, and all things Classic Rock and 80's (which is now classic too, come to think of it). But can also sing every Josh Groban song, even the ones in different languages. I envision myself an old lady in a nursing home, sitting in my wheelchair staring out the window, listening to alltime faves like Lynard Skynard, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Eagles, you get the picture.

6) What's the last movie you saw?
At the movies: The Proposal. At home: Don't Eat the Daisies.

7) What's your favorite animal? 1) dogs 2) cats 3) horses.

8) What's your favorite reality show? Gene Simmons "Family Jewels" (they're great)

9) What book are you reading right now?
Diana Gabaldon, Outlander Series, for the fourth (or 5th?) time. Her 6th of 7 books is coming out soon, so I'm refreshing myself. (she so needs to write faster!) I just finished book one of the Evermore Series also. I'll be reading books 2 & 3 soon.

10) Where was your last vacation?
Vacation? What is that? Actually, I was in Florida last year for a funeral and managed a day at the beach and some fun at Universal Studios. That counts.

11) What's your favorite quote or saying?
"God always gives you more than you can handle. He just wants you to let Him handle it" (mine)

12) What's your favorite hobby?
Hobby? another word I'm not familiar with. It would have to be reading, since I escape into books as much as possible, and tend to take whatever book I'm reading wherever I go, just in case I find a few minutes.

13) How much time do you spend volunteering per week? Not enough.

14) What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
First, it's free. Second, when I'm volunteering, I'm not spending money. (I digress) Actually, I love to volunteer in general, but doing it with animals is the best. I love my babies at home, but when I can go to the shelter and walk some dogs, that's a great afternoon. At AAS I've met some truly great people that I otherwise would not have met. And when I can go home knowing that a dog or cat went home with someone with my help, it's an amazing feeling. "You can't help every one of them, but you can help the one in front of you."
